Below is a summary of the agenda prepared by the Cool Events Team. I've included some of the unanswered questions to remind us of some of the work still to be completed. I will update this post periodically as the questions are answered so look back periodically at this thread as it will change. Thanks so much for all your help thus far and thanks in advance for the hard work still ahead.
Brian...
Monday - Stacey - 10:00 to 10:50 - Bayview Fire Company
- Did we include bathing suit reminder? The Fire Company has assured us the kids will get wet :-)
- We need a bullhorn for this and several other days.
- Bullhorn
- Still waiting on final okay for Fly By
Wednesday - Lou and Bob - 10:00 to 10:50 - Galloway Police Department
- Bullhorn
- Stacey will be posting details by Tuesday night
- Need commitment on counselors breaking down slide Thursday evening, after they've had a chance to use it themselves
- Amy's picking up water balloons and two slip and slides with some non-toxic soap and Stacey and I are providing a few water toys to occupy the kids waiting in line for the large water slide; certainly any other water toys are welcomed
- We need a few counselors to fill water balloons Thursday morning before the kids arrive
- We'd like to have a second showing of the DVD while parents arrive to pick up their kids; it would be good if the parents knew of this in advance
- We'll not be making DVD's but could have a shorter video streamed online. To that end, Lou will be providing the digital images such that Beacon EFC staff can put together a short video that can be streamed. This can be used as promotional material for next year provided we use pictures from our members and get their parents permission and pay attention to copyright issues with the music

Brian,
I picked up 3 Super Soakers on sale today. I also picked up a pack of 200 water balloons (can never have too many) along with the handy spigot attachment that makes filling them easy.
I would like to somehow get a hold of Kim Spiegelmeyer and touch base on where the electric and water supply outlets are located. Also, where exactly the water slide will be set up? Pastor Bob, if you have a contact number for Kim, can you please post it?
Wishing everyone a great week!
Stacey
Hi Folks,
I don't know if I mentioned it yet or not but I'd like to avoid posting anyones personal or professional contact information on the site. This site is viewable by the general public and I'd like all inquiries routed through Beacon EFC whose contact information is indeed posted. Remember, there are 2.5 billion surfers on the web!
Brian
Hi everyone!
I was thinking that 2 straight hours of water fun without eating might be a lot for the kids. Would you guys be okay with doing an hour of water fun (10-11 a.m.) with the kids, then breaking for lunch outside from 11-11:45, and resuming with the water activities from 11:45-12:45?
I think this would be more fun for the kids because it gives them a break so they won't get too exhausted and really be able to enjoy Water Day! Also, they won't have to change out of their bathing suits since they'll be eating outside in the sun.
I just talked to Stacey and told her that the Games & Activities team has come up with some other activities that the kids can rotate through in addition to the water slide. (I told them I thought 7 activities was ideal since we have 14 groups--we can just have 2 groups at each station for 15-20 min, and then rotate).
I also gave Stacey Kim's cell number.
This is going to be such a fun day! Let's start praying now for sunshine :) Thank you guys sooo much for the amazing job you are all doing and the hard work you are putting in!
Kelly
Hi Folks,
Stacey, thanks so much for picking up the super soakers and water balloons. Amy and I will add to the arsenal as well :-)
Kelly, I've changed the times on the detail post in this thread. Great idea with the lunch and glad to hear the games and activities team is pitching in with the water day activities. This is going to be one cool event!
Brian
hey, me again!
i just talked to terri (the games & activities team leaders)--she said that she has 5 other water activities, plus the big water slide can be #6 and the slip & slides can be #7. (the super soakers can occupy kids while they are in line for these 2 stations)
she said she has adults to be in charge of her 5 stations--are there people from the Cool Events Team who can man the water slide and the Slip & Slides?
there will be about 20 kids at each station for 15-20 minutes each. then the whistle will sound & they will rotate.
Brian,
I didn't realize that anyone could view this site. I thought you had to be invited. I'm so sorry.
Kelly,
I will be available to man one of the water stations on Thursday.
Stacey
We dropped off at Beacon today two slip and slides (one a triple) and a spigot splitter today. There are three spigots at the church; the splitter will allow us to run the slip and slides off of one reserving the other three for the inflatable slide and other uses. I've also picked up 600 water balloons (to add to Stacey's total), three additional water balloon filling tools, and some soap to make the slip and slides slippery. That’s it for now.
Brian
I'm sorry I didn't update my info about the Police Department (Wednesdays Event). Sgt. Weir hasn't gotten back to me and I've been sooooo incredibly busy at work...time just slipped by. I have it on my "to do" list to call him tomorrow, first thing in the morning.
Stacey
I few things I forgot....
* I will be talking to Kim about the water and electric supply and also about where the water slide will be set up.
* Did we get any volunteers to fill the water balloons?
* How about a bullhorn or sound system? I agree, talking to 150 children wll not work without one or the other.
Good Morning-
In an attempt to confirm Monday's Wednesday's Events, I left messages for Sgt. Frank Weir (Galloway Police Department)and Chief Joe Blazo (Bayview Fire Department. I left my work and home numbers and asked them to call me. I would like to have complete faith that they will show up on Monday and Wednesday, but I am getting nervous. Should we start brainstorming for a few back-up plans, in the event something doesn't go as planned?
Please, someone let me know what they think.
Hi Stacey,
Call me in the office so that we can brainstorm some ideas. I've emailed my contact information separately to your comcast email account.
Brian
Hi Stacey,
The sound system will be on a cart to the right as you enter the main entrance to the church. We'll want to have Bayview Fire Company park near the circle in front of that same main entrance. Good luck tomorrow morning. I'll try and sneak over in between classes.
Brian
Hi Stacey,
I understand that Bayview Firecompany was a BIG hit this morning. Thank you so much for pulling this together. You should be very proud of that!
I spoke with Chris Low this afternoon an he said having the students fill the waterballoons Wednesday night and breaking down the waterslide Thursday night will be no problem at all. I wonder if you could make sure the waterbaloons get in his hands (there should be about 800 w/ 4 waterbaloon filler attachments.) Also Chris asked that you grab one of his counselors Thursday morning such that they can see how it is set up to help with breaking down.
Again, I can't thank you enough for all your hard work! Go Cool Team Go!
Brian
Brian,
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement! Yes, today was a hit....all around, from start to finish. Pastor Bob was a great help. We really have a geat team!
I'll make sure Chris gets the balloons and yes, I'll make sure a counselor is with me when the water slide is being set-up.
Brian, I can't wait for you to experience the wonder of what God is doing through Beacon. Just wait until you see the smiles on the kids faces....how incredibly rewarding! You're going to want to call out sick on Thursday and enjoy water day with us (hahaha).
Can't wait to hear about Tuesday. Have a great time!
Stacey
Wednesday's event has been confirmed. Sgt. Weir called my home phone and left a message. I will call him tomorrow (Tuesday) and go over the details with him. I will have the Police Department show up @ 9:50am. I will send an update after speaking with him. Pastor Bob, I will give them your name as a contact. Could you please meet them out front (the way we did the fire department on Monday)? Speaking of Monday.....thank you for all of your help. You are a blessing. The day went fantastic!
See you on Thursday.
Stacey
I can't wait to hear how today went. Will someone please BLOG!
I just spoke to Sgt. Frank Wier, from the Galloway Police Department. They will be there at 10am and will do several demonstrations until 11am. Pastor Bob, Sgt. Wier will be looking for you when he shows up. Please, show him where you want them to set up and do their thing. If the weather doesn't hold up, I told Sgt. Wier that they could do their thing inside. Contact # is
652-3705, press 1 and ask dispatch to connect you to Sgt. Frank Wier. I don't see any problems. he assured me that they would be there. Wish I could there too!
See you all on Thursday.
Stacey
Go Cool Events Team Go!
This afternoon was awesome! Our very own Yusef was waving from the helicopter with screaming children waving at him! The auxillary brought two groups; both very interesting.
Pastor Bob or Lou, can you ensure the waterballoons get to Chris sometime today. There should be about 800 with 4 attachments to fill these.
Thanks for everyones hard work; what a great team!
Brian
Brian,
AWESOME! I'm so glad to hear the Coast Guard Event went great and the kids loved it. Dave and I stopped by the church this morning before heading into work and neither of us wanted to leave. We really wanted to call in sick. It's just awesome to see the kids having so much fun. What a blessing!
I spoke to Kelly this morning and reminded her about the balloons and Dave (my husband) just spoke to her and reminded her again. I have faith that 800 (give or take a few) water balloons will be ready to be tossed tomorrow morning.....Yipeee!
If you can swing by bewtween classes tomorrow, please do. It's a shame we didn't get to all work together.
Okay, maybe I'll see you tomorrow, but if not....I'll be sure to blog.
Stacey
